Indian music director Nayyar dies at 81Sunday, January 28, 2007 Talented Bollywood music director O.P. Nayyar died of a heart attack at his residence outside Mumbai on Sunday.
The 81-year-old was well known for the release of many great tunes during the 50s and 60s. He specialized in wonderful Punjabi rhythms and also helped assist in making several singers popular stars. Nayyar was born in 1926 in Lahore which is now known as Pakistan. He was never caught in public without sporting his black felt hat and always wore white clothing. Mahesh Bhatt, an Indian film director states that Nayyar was, an audacious man who was a king in his time.Nayyar's first break came when he was offered the role to direct "Kaneez" in 1949 and his career took off from there with some of his work appearing in movies during the 50s such as "CID" and "Mr and Mrs 55" Powered by dBLOGGER |
