Metallica Inducted Into Rock and Roll Hall of FameSunday, April 05, 2009 Well known rock band Metallica as well as a few other popular music artists were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on Saturday. Induction ceremonies have been held in New York City for the past few years but took place in Cleveland once again for 2009. Metallica took the stage to perform a few of their hit songs from over the years. They've had many great hits since they came on the scene back in the 80's and gained instant fame and popularity with albums such as "Master of Puppets", released in 1986 and "Metallica" which hit the airwaves in 1991. The band has been through many ups and downs throughout the decades and are very thankful to have so many dedicated and loyal fans. They suffered a great loss in 1986 when their first bassist Cliff Burton passed away, and although quite difficult to overcome they continued to produce incredible music both in his honor and for their own passions. Both James Hetfield, the bands lead singer, and drummer Lars Ulrich gave speeches at the event. Hetfield mentioned to the audience to "Dream big and dare to fail. I dare you to do that, because this is living proof that it is possible to make a dream come true". I can remember back when I was a teenager and heard Metallica for the first time, I became an instant fan. They truly deserve to be remembered as one of the greatest rock bands of all time. Other artists who were inducted include Run-D.M.C, Wanda Jackson and Bobby Womack just to name a few. Powered by dBLOGGER |
